Summer Golf 2015

The following information and opportunities are for both boys and girls interested in playing golf at Fox High School next school year.

First, the girls golf season begins on Monday August 3rd.  Girl golfers will need a completed physical on file with the athletic office prior to practice/tryouts.  Forms and more information will be available on the Fox Golf website and are included in this handout.  The Fox Athletic Department is hosting a sports physical session on Tuesday, May 19th.  See the attached letter for more info.

The boys’ season begins late February/early March.  The will be an announcement made over the school intercom in January about a preseason meeting.  Check the golf website often for information, and see Coach Boyd in room 208 at Fox High School with any questions.

The Fox Golf program will be meeting throughout the summer for some evenings at the range and to play nine holes at Pomme Creek Golf Course, the team’s home course.

We will meet at the First Tee Driving Range on Lemay Ferry Rd. on the following dates…
Thursday June 11, 18, 25 and July 2, 16, 23
Range sessions will run from 7pm-8pm. Golfers should bring $2 to give to coach, and coach will be able get double balls put on the high school card.
The first time we’ll meet is Thursday June 11th.  It would be great if everyone came out for the first range date and we could get to know everyone.  Please plan on making this first date.

We will also be meeting at our home course, Pomme Creek, on the following dates…
Tuesday June 16, 23, 30 and July 14, 21
Golfers will need to bring a student picture ID and $8 with them in order to get the Fox golfer rate of $8 to walk nine holes.  Pay at the clubhouse then meet at the putting green at 4pm on June 16 and June 23. Practice will be over around 6/630pm.  Don’t worry if you haven’t golfed a lot in the past.  The playing formats will be fun and instructional.  The times for June 30 and July 14 & 21 will be announced at a later date.  We will most likely meet at 130pm on those days, but that will be confirmed later by checking the website and through Twitter.

There will be other opportunities throughout the summer to play golf with Fox coaches and returning members.  Often, plans are made to meet up at a local course to play 18 holes on Friday mornings. Boys assistant coach Scott Neibert will often coordinate outings with returning golfers, and new golfers to the program are welcome to join in. Area courses usually accommodate our high school golfers with discounted rates.  Plans are usually made on Tuesdays at Pomme to make tee times for the upcoming Friday.  We will also put the info on the website and Twitter as well.  We will share contact/text information during our first range and Pomme sessions so that everyone can be kept “in the loop”.

For those experienced golfers and golfers returning to the program, consideration should be made to play in Gateway Jr. PGA tournaments and Accelerated Golf Tour tournaments.  Info on both of these organizations and their tournament schedules are attached and a link can be found to both on the left side of the Fox Golf website under “Summer Golf”.  Info about the Jefferson County league is also included on the webpage.

Please understand that everyone is welcome to come out and participate, regardless of ability level.  We will keep things simple and enjoyable.

If you have any questions, please email me at the address above.
