State Day 2

Brendan Lindsay and Tyler Ward finished out the golf season yesterday in a valiant fashion. Playing an extremely difficult course, and under windy/blustery conditions, the two state qualifiers shot rounds of 90 and 96 respectively.  Brendan finish 65th and Tyler 75th out of 88 golfers.  Columbia Rock Bridge took the team title while a golfer from Washington High School shot 71-74 to win the individual title by 6 strokes.  Pictured below is Brendan on the 100 yard long 18th green at Dalhousie.  He's finishing his last hole of high school golf.  Good luck to Brendan as he continues his competitive golfing career at William Woods University next year.  Also pictured is Tyler Ward, who is already making plans for a return trip to state next year.

Best day in Fox golf history

For the first time in Fox golf history, two golfers have qualified for the state tournament. In the 30 years of the Fox golf program, five golfers total have qualified for the state tournament, and under easier parameters. But since the addition of the sectional round in the qualification process, the Class 4 Sectional 1 tournament has consistently put up the lowest scores in the state. It didn't change today. In the other sectionals, golfers could shoot +8 or +9 to make it to state, but at Missouri Bluffs one needed to shoot a 76(+5) to get to state. Junior Tyler Ward shot a school record 74 and senior Brendan Lindsay carded his best score of 76 to make the cut. Fox is the only school from District 1 to take multiple golfers to Cape Girardeau for the state tournament. Tyler and Brendan will compete next Monday and Tuesday at Dalhousie GC for all-state honors. Juniors Adam Basler came in with an 80 and Jacob Weis had a 94 to round out the team score. A 324 is a good score for most tournaments, but will be improved upon next year as Fox becomes even more competitive on the team sectional level. Complete sectional results can be found at the following link- https://www.mshsaa.org/Activities/SectionalResults.aspx?alg=23&class=4&sectional=1

Varsity 3rd at Districts/ Qualify four for Sectionals

The Fox Warrior boys golf team shot their best tournament and district score ever today as they came in 3rd place in the Class 4 District 1 tournament in Jackson, MO at Kimbeland CC. Senior Brendan Lindsay and junior Jacob Weis both came in with a 79, while junior Tyler Ward carded an 81, and junior Adam Basler rounded out the four low scores with an 83.  The new low team tournament and district score came to a 322.  The top two teams advance all five golfers to Sectionals, then the next fifteen low individual scores not on those two teams also qualify for Sectionals. The four Fox golfers mentioned above all qualified for the next round as the 15th place score was 85. Fox will now be competing on a team level, and individually, next Monday at Missouri Bluffs. Brendan, Jacob, and Tyler also made the all-district team.
