Best day in Fox golf history

For the first time in Fox golf history, two golfers have qualified for the state tournament. In the 30 years of the Fox golf program, five golfers total have qualified for the state tournament, and under easier parameters. But since the addition of the sectional round in the qualification process, the Class 4 Sectional 1 tournament has consistently put up the lowest scores in the state. It didn't change today. In the other sectionals, golfers could shoot +8 or +9 to make it to state, but at Missouri Bluffs one needed to shoot a 76(+5) to get to state. Junior Tyler Ward shot a school record 74 and senior Brendan Lindsay carded his best score of 76 to make the cut. Fox is the only school from District 1 to take multiple golfers to Cape Girardeau for the state tournament. Tyler and Brendan will compete next Monday and Tuesday at Dalhousie GC for all-state honors. Juniors Adam Basler came in with an 80 and Jacob Weis had a 94 to round out the team score. A 324 is a good score for most tournaments, but will be improved upon next year as Fox becomes even more competitive on the team sectional level.
